Zomba Malosa Member of Parliament Grace Kwelepeta has appealed to the Ministry of Labour to reopen Domasi Works, saying the move would help equip young people with skills needed for employment and entrepreneurship.
Kwelepeta made the appeal in parlimement saying restoring the training centre would provide youths with practical vocational skills that could enable them to establish their own businesses or improve their chances of securing jobs in various sectors.
She said limited access to skills development opportunities has contributed to youth unemployment, leaving some young people vulnerable to engaging in crime.
The legislator believes reopening Domasi works would promote self-reliance, reduce unemployment, and contribute to socio-economic development in Zomba Malosa, urging the Ministry of Labour to prioritise the initiative.
