Eye of the Child has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of every child in Malawi.
The organization says that every child deserves to grow up in a safe and caring environment, free from abuse, violence, neglect, exploitation, and trafficking.
In a statement signed by Marketing and Public Relations Officer Asiyatu James, protecting children requires collective action.
James added that the organization works closely with government, communities, traditional leaders, development partners, and the media to help keep children safe across the country.
“Although progress has been made, many children in Malawi still face serious challenges. These include child abuse, child labor, trafficking, early marriage, and limited access to important services that are meant to support and protect them.”,Show explained
To address these gaps, Eye of the Child says it will continue working with communities to strengthen child protection systems. This includes supporting families, raising awareness of children’s rights, preventing child trafficking, and ensuring that children have access to justice and psychosocial support.
The organization also emphasized the role of the media in creating change.
She also said that Eye of the Child will continue partnering with media houses to educate the public and encourage everyone to play a role in protecting children.
In a statement, the organization called on all stakeholders to take action.
“Eye of the Child calls on parents, caregivers, teachers, community leaders, faith-based organisations, civil society organisations, development partners, and all Malawians to work together to create a safer future where every child is protected, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive,”James emphasized
Eye of the Child believes that building a safer future starts at the community level. By empowering parents and caregivers, and by making sure children know their rights, the organization hopes to prevent abuse before it happens.
As Malawi continues to work toward development goals, Eye of the Child says protecting children must remain a national priority. The organization reaffirmed that when children are safe, respected, and supported, the whole country benefits.
