Zomba Malosa Member of Parliament Grace Kwelepeta has reaffirmed her commitment to improving access to quality education after 46 learners from her constituency were selected to attend national and district boarding secondary schools.
The learners are among beneficiaries of Kwelepeta’s education support initiative, which includes the provision of school bags and financial assistance to selected students and teachers.
Speaking after the selection, Kwelepeta said the support was part of her efforts to ensure that financial challenges do not prevent deserving learners from pursuing their education.
She said education remains a key investment in the development of the constituency and the country, particularly in advancing Malawi’s Vision 2063 goal of creating an educated, skilled and productive population.
“Investing in education gives young people an opportunity to change their lives and contribute positively to their communities,” Kwelepeta said.
Among those selected is Trinity, who will continue her secondary education at St Mary’s Secondary School in Zomba. She expressed appreciation for the support received from the legislator.
Kwelepeta also praised teachers for continuing to serve learners despite the challenges they face, saying their contribution is critical to improving education standards.
Primary Education Advisor Rozina Maunjili welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation to Kwelepeta for extending support to both learners and teachers.
Kwelepeta said she would continue supporting education initiatives in the constituency as long as stakeholders remain committed to improving learning outcomes.
She urged the selected learners to take advantage of the opportunity by remaining disciplined, resilient and hardworking as they begin a new chapter in their education.
