ANSAH THANKS MUTHARIKA FOR TRUST, CALLS FOR MORE WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

MULANJE — Vice President Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah has thanked President Arthur Peter Mutharika for choosing her as his running mate and giving her the opportunity to serve as Vice President of Malawi.

Speaking during the Archdiocese of Blantyre Catholic Women Association’s annual Umai wa Amai celebrations at Chisutu Parish in Mulanje, Dr Ansah said she remains honoured by President Mutharika’s confidence in her during the campaign for the September 16, 2025 presidential election.

She also urged Malawians to reject fake news circulating on social media, saying respect for national leadership is in line with her Christian faith.

Dr Ansah further called for increased opportunities for women to participate in leadership, urging them to work hard and contribute to the development of their families, churches, government and other institutions.

The Vice President also encouraged women to raise children with good values, support one another and uphold good character, saying such efforts are important for the betterment of Malawi.

She emphasised the important role women play in shaping families and communities and urged them to continue working together to contribute to the country’s development.
