The Ministry of Mining has extended the deadline for submissions on the review of the Mines and Minerals Act, 2023 and the Draft Value Addition Regulations to 10 October 2026.
According to a statement signed by Secretary for Mining Dr Rodwell Mzonde, the extension will give stakeholders and members of the public more time to review the proposed amendments and submit their views and recommendations.
The Ministry says the review seeks to address emerging issues in the mining sector, particularly the promotion of value addition and mineral beneficiation.
It is also developing Value Addition Regulations to provide a framework for regulating value addition activities in the sector.
Submissions can be emailed to minfo@mining.gov.mw or delivered to the Ministry of Mining at Matamando House, opposite Civic Offices, in Lilongwe.
Dr Mzonde has urged mining companies, civil society organisations and the general public to use the extended period to contribute to reforms aimed at strengthening governance and value addition in Malawi’s mining sector.
