President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has praised the longstanding and cordial relationship between Malawi and the United States of America, describing the partnership as one that continues to deliver mutual benefits for both nations.
The President made the remarks on Friday during a farewell meeting with the outgoing United States Chargé d’Affaires, Jonathan Fischer, held at Kamuzu Palace.
During the meeting, President Mutharika appealed to the United States to maintain its development cooperation with Malawi while expanding investment in strategic sectors, including agriculture, mining, education, and healthcare.
He emphasized that enhanced collaboration in these areas would significantly contribute to Malawi’s economic growth and national development.
The President further expressed confidence that the strong ties between the two countries would continue to flourish for the benefit of their peoples.
In his farewell remarks, Fischer thanked the Government and people of Malawi for the warm hospitality extended to him throughout his diplomatic assignment.
He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Malawi’s development through various development programmes and humanitarian assistance.
