TNM DONATES K20 MILLION TOWARDS NATIONAL CYBERSECURITY DRILL

Telkom Networks Malawi (TNM) plc has donated K20 million towards the 2026 National Cybersecurity Drill and Conference organised by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) through the Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (mwCERT).

The conference is taking place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe from October 26 to 29, 2026, bringing together institutions and stakeholders to share experiences, assess their preparedness and strengthen responses to cyber threats.

Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony in Lilongwe on Tuesday, TNM Director of Customer Experience, Nicole Meki, said cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that requires continuous investment, public awareness and collaboration among stakeholders.

Meki said protecting digital services is crucial to maintaining public trust as more Malawians embrace digital platforms for financial transactions, payments and business activities.

“Protecting digital services is essential for building public trust as more Malawians use them to send money, make payments and conduct business online.

As stakeholders, we need to cooperate and work together if we are to ably guard our systems against cyber attacks,” she said.

Representing MACRA Director General, the authority’s Head of Procurement, Joseph Ngalawa, thanked TNM for the financial support, saying the contribution would help the initiative achieve its intended objectives.

The National Cybersecurity Drill and Conference provides a platform for organisations to exchange knowledge, test their cybersecurity preparedness and enhance their ability to respond effectively to emerging cyber threats.

TNM’s contribution underscores the importance of collaboration between the private sector and regulatory institutions in strengthening Malawi’s cybersecurity preparedness and protecting the country’s growing digital ecosystem.
