FORMER NATIONAL WATER RESOURCES AUTHORITY CEO ARRESTED OVER AUDIT FINDINGS

Former National Water Resources Authority chief executive officer Dwight Kambuku has been arrested following findings contained in an audit conducted by the National Audit Office.

Kambuku’s lawyer, Chrispine Ndalama, confirmed the arrest, saying his client is currently being held at the Area 6 Fiscal Police in Lilongwe.

Ndalama has also cautioned the police against summoning individuals for questioning and subsequently arresting them without following proper legal procedures.

He said some offences, including abuse of office, require a warrant of arrest before an individual can be apprehended.

The circumstances surrounding Kambuku’s arrest are linked to issues raised in the National Audit Office’s audit findings.
