Bishop William Joseph Mchombo of the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire has urged the government to expedite the rehabilitation of the Mangochi–Makanjira Road, saying its deteriorating condition is negatively affecting communities and limiting access to vital services.
He made the remarks during the ordination of three priests at Malosa Secondary School Ground in Zomba, an event attended by Minister of Education Bright Msaka as the guest of honour.
According to Bishop Mchombo, upgrading the road would improve transport and contribute to the socio-economic development of communities along the route.
The ceremony also saw the ordination of Roy Mkize, Paul Kampeni and Elias Banda as priests in the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire.
The event drew Anglican faithful, clergy and other invited guests who witnessed the ordination.
