The Director of Human Resource Management and Development for the Malawi Police Service, Commissioner Evalista Chisale, has urged women serving in the country’s security agencies to believe in their abilities and strive for excellence, saying they are equally capable of outperforming their male counterparts.
Chisale made the remarks on Friday evening during the closing ceremony of Command and Leadership Course Number One of 2026 at the Police Training College in Zomba.
The course brought together officers from the Malawi Police Service, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, and the Malawi Prison Service.
She challenged the 64 graduates, including 15 women, to demonstrate exemplary leadership by embracing responsibility, making informed decisions and confidently tackling challenges in the line of duty.
“Women should never underestimate themselves. They have the potential to perform just as well as, or even better than, men when given the opportunity,” Chisale said.
She added that the knowledge and skills acquired during the training should translate into improved leadership and professionalism across the country’s security institutions.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Dumbo Clement Kacholola of Bangwe Police Station emerged as the overall best-performing participant.
He described the Command and Leadership Course as timely and relevant, saying it had equipped officers with the leadership and management skills needed to respond to the demands of a rapidly changing security environment.
