VERSE
But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
TODAY’S LIFE
In today’s life, distance from God looks very normal. We replace prayer with scrolling, worship with entertainment, and quiet time with hustle. We still post Bible verses, still go to church, but our hearts are far. You can be surrounded by Christian activities and still be far from Christ Himself. The danger is that the world quickly fills the empty space. Many of us have experienced that dry season when God feels distant. You pray but hear no answer. You open the Bible but feel nothing.
EXPLANATION
It is not always because God has moved often it is because we have slowly drifted away through busyness, sin, disappointment, or even spiritual laziness. The Bible teaches us that being away from God is not the end of the story. In the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15, the son walked away on his own, wasted everything, and found himself alone and broken. What saved him was not staying in shame, but making a decision to return home. God never locked the door.
To return to God, you must first be honest. Acknowledge where you are. Psalm 32:5 says, “Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.” God cannot heal what you pretend does not exist. Tell Him, “Lord, I have drifted. I have been cold. I need You.” Second, you must seek Him deliberately. Faith does not grow back by accident. Return to the altar of prayer, even if your words are weak. Return to His Word, even if it is one verse a day. Return to fellowship, because isolation makes distance worse. But the promise remains: If you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. God is not waiting to punish you; He is waiting to embrace you.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I admit that I have drifted away from You. Forgive me for putting other things before You. Today I choose to return. Draw me close, cleanse my heart, and restore the joy of Your presence in my life. Help me to seek You with all my heart, every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
