PARLIAMENT POSTPONES MID-YEAR BUDGET REVIEW MEETING

The Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly has announced the postponement of the Mid-Year Budget Review Meeting of Parliament.

The meeting was the Fourth Meeting of the National Assembly in the 52nd Session of Parliament, which was scheduled to take place from 9th November to 11th December, 2026, at the Parliament Building in Lilongwe.

According to a press release dated 28th October, 2026, and signed by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sameer Suleman, MP, the meeting has been postponed until further notice.

The statement, however, does not provide reasons for the postponement of the crucial meeting, which was expected to review the 2026/2027 national budget performance.

The Mid-Year Budget Review is a key parliamentary calendar event where the Minister of Finance presents an assessment of budget implementation and proposes adjustments where necessary.

Meanwhile, the postponement comes at a time when Malawians are keenly waiting to hear government’s update on economic reforms and budget execution.
