ROTARY LEADER URGES GREATER INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE

Former President of the Rotary Club of Blantyre, Mordecai Msiska, has called for increased and strategic investment in Malawi’s education and public health sectors, warning that inadequate attention to these critical areas continues to fuel poverty and ignorance across the country.

Speaking during the Rotary Club of Blantyre presidential induction ceremony, Msiska emphasized the need for deliberate action to strengthen social services and improve the quality of life for Malawians.

“Improving these sectors would help reduce preventable diseases and create a healthier, more informed society,” he said.

The event saw Dango Mkandawire officially installed as the new President of the Rotary Club of Blantyre.

The ceremony also commemorated the club’s 70 years of community service and humanitarian work in Blantyre.

In his inaugural remarks, Mkandawire reaffirmed the club’s commitment to serving vulnerable communities through various development initiatives.

He said the organization would continue to expand its outreach programmes and strengthen efforts aimed at addressing pressing social challenges.

The Rotary Club of Blantyre has, over the years, played a significant role in supporting community development projects, particularly in the areas of health, education, water and sanitation, and youth empowerment.

As the club marks seven decades of service, its leadership says it remains focused on making a lasting impact in the lives of disadvantaged communities across Malawi.
