BLANTYRE CSOS URGED TO STRENGTHEN GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT TO BOOST IMPACT

The Blantyre Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Network has called on local civil society organisations to strengthen their organisational management capacity to improve service delivery, increase accountability and enhance access to funding opportunities.

The call was made during a capacity-building training held in Blantyre, where Network Chairperson Malango Maganga stressed the importance of building strong institutions capable of effectively implementing development programmes.

Maganga said local CSOs need to enhance their capacity in key areas such as governance, financial management, proposal writing and resource mobilisation to remain sustainable and attract support from development partners.

He said the training is designed to equip participating organisations with practical knowledge in governance, auditing and financial management while promoting transparency, accountability and good organisational practices.

Foundation for Irrigation and Sustainable Development (FISD) Project Coordinator Amey Tchongwe said the initiative will help strengthen the operational capacity of local CSOs, enabling them to deliver quality services and effectively respond to community development needs.

The Blantyre Civil Society Organisation Network comprises 74 member organisations working in various sectors of community development across the district.
