A spirit of gratitude and giving back was on full display at Malamulo Mission Secondary School in Thyolo when Form Four students donated music equipment to the institution as a token of appreciation for the education, guidance and support they received during their four years of study.
The donation was made during a farewell party held for the graduating class, marking the end of their secondary school journey and celebrating the bond they have built with the school community.
Speaking on behalf of the students, their leader, Willard Ngoma, said the gesture was inspired by a desire to leave a lasting legacy and express heartfelt thanks to the institution that has shaped their lives.
Ngoma explained that although many former students often return to support the school after completing their studies, the current Form Four cohort felt compelled to demonstrate their appreciation before leaving.
“We wanted to leave something behind as a way of thanking the school for the guidance, support and education we have received over the past four years,” he said.
The students raised the funds for the entertainment system from their own pocket money, reflecting their commitment and determination to contribute something meaningful to the school. A total of 155 Form Four candidates participated in the initiative, making the donation a collective effort by the entire graduating class.
School Principal Jenala Moyo Phiri praised the students for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as evidence that the values imparted by the institution extend beyond academic achievement.
According to Phiri, the donation reflects the character development and sense of responsibility that the school strives to instil through both academic and spiritual education.
“It is encouraging to see that the lessons we teach are already bearing fruit, as the students have recognised the importance of showing gratitude for the good things done for them,” she said.
The donation not only provides the school with equipment that can be used during various events and activities, but also serves as a powerful example of the importance of appreciation and community spirit.
As the students prepare to leave Malamulo Mission Secondary School and embark on new chapters in their lives, their contribution will remain a lasting reminder of the values of gratitude, generosity and service that they have embraced during their time at the institution.
For the graduating class, the entertainment system is more than just a donation—it is a symbol of appreciation and a legacy that will continue to benefit future generations of learners at the school.
