NWRA CEO RESIGNS, CITES CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL

Chief Executive Officer for the National Water Resources Authority (NWRA), Dr. Dwight Kambuku, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing what he describes as a constructive dismissal by the institution’s board of directors.

In a resignation letter seen by this publication, Dr. Kambuku said that although his departure is formally being presented as a resignation, he believes circumstances leading to his decision amount to a constructive dismissal.

“I have come to this painful decision considering the developments that happened, which I have concluded to be a fundamental breach of contract as well as the implied duty of trust and confidence by the NWRA Board of Directors,” reads part of the letter.

The development follows a decision made on May 15 to second Dr. Kambuku to Nalikule College of Education, where he was expected to serve as a lecturer.

Dr. Kambuku’s reassignment sparked questions regarding his future at the authority, with the latest resignation appearing to bring an end to his tenure as the head of the country’s water resources regulatory institution.

The NWRA Board has not yet publicly commented on the resignation or the allegations raised by Dr. Kambuku regarding the circumstances surrounding his departure.

Further details are expected as stakeholders react to the development and the authority clarifies the leadership transition.
